Welcome From the Head of School
“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” More than a century after he made this statement, Frederick Douglass’ words still ring true today, reminding us that literacy and learning are the gatekeepers to a life of liberty. With this in mind, we are honored that you have taken the time to learn more about Newark Legacy Charter School. The Board of Trustees, faculty and staff are all excited about the prospect of offering each of our scholars a rigorous college-preparatory education in a safe, disciplined environment.
Newark Legacy Charter School is grounded in the belief that all children, regardless of background, deserve to have access to a high-quality public education that will enable them to thrive in demanding high schools and colleges, and ultimately become the masters of their own destinies.
Our outstanding program includes:
• A strong focus on literacy.
• A safe, structured, supportive learning environment.
• Caring teachers with a track record of measurable success.
• More time to learn.
• An oral literacy program with opportunities to participate in spoken word, plays, mock trial and debate.
• Culturally enriching field trips to museums, colleges and historical sites.
High-quality education for our youth is an urgent matter, and it is one that we do not take lightly. We invite you to explore all that our school has to offer, and we hope that you will visit us in the very near future.
With gratitude,
Paula White Bradley
Founder & Head of School
